I remember being asked,

being implored, by its insistence, 

to join the conversation but

join the conversation waited

for a new moon, dived over a

hedgerow and was gone

and well I waited to stop being

asked which is when I pounced,

made up a conversation to join,

candied company in the company

of strangers.

I think well at least this stuff,

clotted relevance, isn't

mainlined to our retinas but it

doesn't actually need to be

most of us have gone there 

willingly anyway.

If I live to 60, Judy Garland's

performance in The Wizard of Oz

will be 100, if I get to 85, Dick Van Dyke's

in Mary Poppins will be 100 also

- I've watched both recently and they

are so legible, ask anyone who knows me

suddenly I'm the fount of all knowledge

of Dick Van Dyke 

but honestly

in this climate all this complete

bollox for our attention

if I saw an infomercial now

I'd faint in shock.
