Rite of Weigh

When I was twenty I weighed one-

hundred and twenty pounds. All

that running biking climbing swimming

I guess. Every year since then

I’ve reliably gained one more

without my even noticing

at first. A little birthday gift

concealed in the rounding. All

that sitting thinking walking breathing

I guess. One-sixty sounds daunting

but I’m really hoping to make it

to one-eighty-five: symmetrical

octogenarian Buddha bowl no longer

concerned with the counting.
