Some men lean into ugly like
A hypebeast in Arc’teryx
Who stays dry by making
The rain feel guilty
Somewhere Harvey Weinstein cries
You don’t like me because I’m fat
Cue the sad violins
Rex Heurman drinks a tallboy on the LIRR
Too close to you, with every other seat open
A fog machine fills the stage with pity
So no one sees the trapdoor
There’s a power in being revolting
But only for a man
A king of the uninvited in his mildew crown
A hand that makes the air feel dirty
Your recoil proves your “shallowness”
Because this man learned early
Softness is something you can steal
Maybe the ugliest part
Is how underneath it all
This man doesn't even want to be wanted
To want that is fragile
He wants effect
His eyes light at the flinch
His ears perk at the quick apology
Because you just let him know you’re a sucker
Who won’t notice when he flips the script
Muddies the moral clarity
To claim he's wounded and you’re cruel
youch!
