YEAR OF THE ANIMORPH

so the tradition goes i’m good at making
the green blend and good at making
you laugh
lost more friends than I meant to but so the tradition goes
cedar post holds true and shaggy, don’t really get it just know
don’t wanna stay even one second
longer than it took
to realize i miss you trying
to impress me
tore the paper, male runners diagonal out their shorts
to spindly horse stems
they used to make shorts better
little peaked cathedral doorways
this year demands a more majestic way
to talk about the IT band, hindquarter motor
whatever horses have that shines like
the beaver coat I sold when I realized it was
what it was
amber cloud of conquest
why we’re here, you reminded
and I did wear it to one devastating daytime party
that crawled me into
sorrow's lodge
at least the silk scarves make the grey day
kiss back, i don’t believe the air causes sadness
but maybe sadness breathes?
white with the knuckle ankles always scared but
i respect how easy the rest of you love
beauty power
horses
charging forth white hot wildfire gulping
birthplaces and leaving
smudges
a backless dress, a gold locket
i moved through the party by a watcher’s string
too cold for my own nipples braced in shudders
like Andrea flips between bath and bed
is surrender to sickness even possible unless
you live alone?
i just wanna set up, then ditch
rude, correct
i miss the gifts
it’s not nice to see someone hear you wrong
it’s not nice to travel and realize you’ve been
unprepared for
towards the end of the party we tried holy night
and talked leave-in conditioner and
eyelash beings
ink that glides a life and anchors the flame,
and snakes
one around my neck plucked from
the window, also
